The Tamale High court handed the death Nayikami Lar who was found guilty of the charge of murder of his step mother whom she accused of retrogressing his progress with witchcraft.
The Jury that heard the case returned with a unanimous verdict of guilty hence the court presided over by Mr Justice Jerome Noble Nkrumah handed him the death sentence
The convict was said to have persistently accused the step mother, Pisur Lar of bewitching him with her witchcraft and for making him poor.
As a result of the bad blood between the two, the deceased [Pisur Lar] was forced to relocate to the Volta Region but as fate will have it, she returned to visit the family and as she was sleeping the convict sneaked into the room and shot her dead.
In another development the Tamale High Court presided over by Mr Justice Jerome Noble Nkrumah has sentenced one Awudu Badjia to death by hanging for murder.
The convict pleaded not guilty but at the end of the trial a seven member jury returned with a unanimous verdict of guilty.
Awudu Badjia was charged with one count of murder for shooting to death one Jinjong Tanko Kombian on April 4, 2015 at Nakpanduri.
On April 4, 2015, a group of young men including the deceased were relaxing under a National Democratic Congress (NDC) branded shed called "Parliament" when the convict suddenly appeared and without any provocation fired a pistol at the deceased who was rushed to the Nankpanduri Clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival
