The Hip Hop legend has been guest starring on the program since Summer 2015.
Da Brat has been on a career come-up
since her 2011 when her prison woes were relinquished, and the grind and
hard work has culminated into a new gig.
FOX Television Stations, Inc. proudly announced earlier today (January 13) that the Chicago rap born Shawntae Harris would be joining the Dish Nation staff full-time. She began guest hosting this past summer opposite Rickey Smiley, Headkrack, Gary with da Tea, Rock T, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Porsha Williams and viewers can now expect her to be featured regularly on the nationally syndicated entertainment news program.
“We are very excited to have Da Brat officially join the Dish Nation team. Having been a celebrated rap artist for over two decades, Da Brat brings an authentic voice to the world of entertainment news. Once she began guest hosting, we knew right away we had to make her a permanent member of the Dish family,” Stephen Brown, EVP of Programming and Development, FOX Television Stations.
“Since the first day I filled in on Dish Nation, it felt comfortable and there was a natural chemistry. The amazingly talented personalities that I’m surrounded by every day make me thrive to be better. I am so grateful that Rickey Smiley gave me the opportunity to do his morning show and ecstatic to be a part of the Dish Nation family. I’ve had an incredible career since 1994 and I feel like it’s just the beginning all over again. Thank you Dish Nation family!,” Da Brat exclaimed in the statement.
Da Brat released her last studio solo back in 2003 but her name and contributions to the culture are solidified in granite. When she first burst onto the scene in 1994 with the Billboard Chart-topping single "Funkdafied" and debut album of the same name, she became the first female solo rap act to go platinum.
