A24, the company behind the critically acclaimed and Oscar buzzed about films Room and Ex Machina, just hired a former investment banking employee to head its international division. Sasha Lloyd,
who will be based in New York and still maintains a small production
company, will now oversee all film and television distribution and
business development in the international marketplace for A24.
Lloyd previously worked at GHL & Company (rebranded as Solar Entertainment HLB in 2012), a boutique investment banking firm specializing in media and entertainment. During her time there she led the $750 million recapitalization of Summit Entertainment and advised on the acquisition of the Miramax library from Disney by Colony Capital.
Before that, Lloyd worked at investment firm Goldman Sachs where she worked on the accounts of Lionsgate, The Weinstein Company and DNA Films. The new A24 executive, who has a Master’s Degree from Cambridge University, will continue to maintain her interest in production firm Candlelight Pictures.
In a statement about her hiring, A24 said, “We have collaborated with her previously, and she has always impressed us with her expertise, ingenuity, and intelligence. She is exactly the kind of dynamic executive we want to be part of the company as we continue to grow.”
