National Geographic Channel has picked up a third season of StarTalk hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson for premiere in the fall. The new season will coincide with the release of the StarTalk book, published by Nat Geo Books. The third season of Nat Geo Wild’s Cesar 911, featuring famed dog behaviorist Cesar Millan, will premiere on February 19. Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica will be seeking Millan’s help in the first episode for their difficult dachshunds. Millan and Nat Geo Books also announced plans for a follow-up to his bestselling 2013 book Cesar Millan’s Short Guide to a Happy Dog.
National Geographic Channel has partnered with Scott Rudin Productions to develop a series based on Annie Proulx’s upcoming dramatic novel Barkskins. They’ve optioned the rights to the book and Scott Rudin Prods will produce the series, which would premiere globally on National Geographic Channel. The deal falls under Rudin’s first-look development and production pact with Fox Networks Group.
Also in development is an untitled documentary from Oscar-nominated filmmaker, author and journalist Sebastian Junger and his producing partner Nick Quested. The project, scheduled to air later in 2016, will focus on the war in Syria and Iraq. Goldcrest Films is producing. National Geographic Channel also is teaming with Darren Aronofsky on One Strange Rock, an event series about outer space. The project is currently in pre-production.
